afrolatin@ forum

The afrolatin@ forum works to build and strengthen research and activist networks among Latin@s of African descent in the United States. Our focus is on Black Latin@s in the United States and their relationships with other communities of color. This emphasis is guided by a transnational perspective that recognizes the centrality of race in understanding today's global reality and the struggle for social justice.

Borough of Manhattan Community College - CUNY

Founded in 1963, Borough of Manhattan Community College, or BMCC , is one of six two-year colleges within the City University of New York (CUNY) system and the only one in Manhattan.

ColombianNomadas

ColombianNomadas helps by creating spaces for the cultural enrichment of Colombians in the exterior.

Columbia University's Graduate School of the Arts and Sciences Office & the Workshop on Critical Approaches to Race and Ethnicity

The Workshop on Critical Approaches to Race and Ethnicity serves as an interdisciplinary space for the critical consideration of race and ethnicity at Columbia University. By bringing together a diverse community of scholars and activists, we seek to examine racial and ethnic formation and engage race and ethnicity as categories of analysis in order to address larger social, cultural, economic, and political questions across geographical boundaries. Consulate General of Colombia in New York

The Consulate General of Colombia in New York helps thousands of people every week apply for and renew their travel documents. The Consulate also covers everything from all aspects of nationality issues to offering advice and help to Colombians in New York in emergency situations. The Consulate also deals with media enquiries.

Inter-American Foundation

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) is an independent agency of the United States government that provides grants to nongovernmental and community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean for innovative, sustainable and participatory self-help programs. The IAF primarily funds partnerships among grassroots and nonprofit organizations, businesses and local governments, directed at improving the quality of life of poor people and strengthening participation, accountability and democratic practices. To contribute to a better understanding of the development process, the IAF also shares its experiences and the lessons it has learned.

CIMARRON National Movement

The Cimarron National Movement, through its programs and projects, is aimed at promoting development, improving living conditions and participation of Afro-Colombian communities within Colombian society, that have been affected by racism and discrimination. Cimarron is associated with theNational Union of Afro-Colombian Organizations - UNE AFRO - a network comprised of over 100 organizations in Colombia.

Movement for Peace in Colombia

The MPC is a non-profit organization. The purpose is to promote human rights and peace in Colombia through coalition-based advocacy and education. The Movement for Peace in Colombia NY brings Colombian civil society voices to the U.S. policy debate by coordinating communication and collaborative efforts among our Colombian counterparts and U.S. non-governmental organizations and grassroots networks.

Queens Museum of Art

The Queens Museum of Art is dedicated to presenting the highest quality visual arts and educational programming for people in the New York metropolitan area, and particularly for the residents of Queens, a uniquely diverse ethnic, cultural and international community.  The Museum fulfills its mission by designing and providing art exhibitions and educational experiences that promote the appreciation and enjoyment of art, support the creative efforts of artists, and enhance the quality of life through interpreting, collecting, and exhibiting art, architecture, and design. The Queens Museum of Art presents artistic and educational programs and exhibitions that directly relate to the contemporary urban life of its constituents while maintaining the highest standards of professional, intellectual, and ethical responsibility.
